On vacation on my son’s birthday

Crows are gathering in a murderous breakfast melee at the feeder at the corner of the deck, as I watch waves rowing into the shoreline on this spectacular summer day.  The caw cawing is a little unsettling as is the swooping and diving, but the calm of the rhythmic sound of the water is winning over the replaying of the Hitchcock movie that seems to be taking place just over …there…

I’m alone this morning at the lake, savouring the sunshine, the lake and the being alone Imageon this my son’s birthday.  And gasp!  he is Home Alone.  At 27 on this July 27 day.  He’s coming over to the house to water the garden and the plants.  And he’s having people over…at this own home…for his own birthday celebration.  It feels right.
